I own two hermanns tortoises, both are of which THB's. I have had my smaller one since 2006, and my large one since 2007, my smaller one is not sexed because it is too small to sex for now and is named Looi. My larger one is a male named Daisy. Both tortoises live happily together in a 3ft indoor rabbit cage, with a heat light, uvb light, obstacles, food, water and much more. Daisy often mounts and practises sexual actions with looi, it is usually nothing to worry about all that much, however if they get too violent and tend to stress the other one(s) you seperate them immediately, right now daisy and looi arent getting stressed which is good. Both daisy and looi are very healthy, strong, and on a steady diet of weeds, flowers, plants and they get a small treat of tomatoes once a week. During the warm months of the year, both tortoises are in a permanent outdoor enclosure where they can be themselves. When outdoors they get natural heat and natural UV rays through the sun, and they get their natural diet growing within their enclosure that i myself had planted seeds so many summers ago. If it rains and the whether is still warm i tend to leave them outside just with a covering so the rain doesnt get onto them. Some people leave there tortoises outdoors with rain to drink from puddles even if they are muddy. However, my pair are too small for me to do that right now, when they are fully grown they can be outdoors during rain. They have not been hibernated just yet, due to the fact they are either under weight, over weight, not 100% healthy ro something like that, usually it is the fact they are under weight or over weight. They will be hibernated eventually though. I will add more information the older they get. |
